Superdog

Many of you have probably not seen Lucy in action with her squirrels. However, you must know that she gets very excited. She has been trying to teach herself to climb the fence to get to them. Tonight though, she just tried taking the whole thing down. She didn't so much go up as straight into it. Now we are going to have to replace one of the boards she broke. The neighbors are going to love us!

Gary & Lynn

Aubree's parents came to visit over the Memorial Day weekend. They arrived Thursday night and took off Monday morning. We had a very nice time with them while they were here. We were forced to stay up later than normal (our bed time is usually 9pm) and they were forced to go to bed earlier than normal (Dad's bed time is usually 3am). We didn't do a whole lot of stuff but had a good time hanging out. We drove out to the old Penitentiary and just looked at it, didn't actually go in. Decided to drive out to Lucky Peak and just do a driving tour of the city. Had some good burgers for lunch and went to the Crab Shack for dinner. Had to get out the cards and play some Funky Rummy for old times sake. Wouldn't be a family get together without Funky Rummy. Mom and Aubree ran some errands Saturday while Dad and Hazen put together the bbq that mom and dad bought for us for a house warming gift. They got it half put together before pulling the lid out of the box and realizing it was all bent up. Had to take it back, get a new one and start putting it back together again. We got mom a gift certificate for a pedicure for mothers day so Aubree and mom went to have that done. It was quite relaxing but I think we had some newbies. Had to wait for the head honcho to come do the designs. Had a delicious steak/salmon/crab leg dinner before Hazen and dad went to the Boise Burn arena football game while mom and Aubree went to see "Bucket List". It was a good movie and the guys seemed to enjoy their game. Came back home for strawberry shortcake and hot tub. Good way to end the evening. Went to breakfast Sunday morning then out to see the Birds of Prey exhibit. They've got some big birds. We especially liked the California Condor that seemed to want to eat us. Good thing there were bars and glass between us. Back home for another bbq and more Funky Rummy. Ended the night watching a pretty good movie "Resurrecting the Champ". We had a great time and though they say the drive is too long and this was the only time they were coming to Boise, I bet they will be back.

Sweet new bbq (thanks!)
Turned out to be a pretty nice weekend after the nasty forecast said rain and thunderstorms non-stop all weekend.
Ornate Hawk-Eagle
This thing is huge. Have seen them before but not so close to realize what an amazing animal this is.
Dad's trying to take a pic of me while I'm taking a pic of them.

Oh yeah. We also played some Frisbee golf. Not naming names of who might have won, but it might have been Aubree.
In the drive thru at DQ
Lucy apparently needed that window because she was expecting a dog biscuit from the drive thru person. Since this is a family show, I had to bleep out mom's ta-ta's
It may look like dad has a tail but again, family show. Nobody likes a plumbers butt. However, these two were both very excited about the squirrels.

Grandma's Visit

This week seemed to fly by. It seems like Aubree's grandma, Patricia, just got here but it was a week ago and now she is already gone again. We both had to work all week so Grandma had to get by on her own for a few days. She did some wandering around the neighborhood as well as figuring out the bus system and riding that downtown a couple days. Friday we went to a nice coffee shop in Eagle that was recommended to us. It was an old church turned into a coffee shop and was very nice. We then were on our way to Emmett to visit one of Aubree's co-workers who owns an antique shop when Hazen started getting a lot of calls from work. We started getting out of cell phone and radio service so had to turn back so Hazen could go back to work. (Hopefully for some overtime pay). Saturday morning we headed downtown for the weekend market. Hazen found a copy of a watercolor that was painted of a town in Italy that we stayed in last year. Grandma found some very expensive, but delicious tomatoes. We all sampled some cheese and sausage and Hazen bought some German sausage that was to die for. Unfortunately the butcher was from a town about 4 hours north so buying more could be a challenge. I think we can order online though. Afterwards we headed to the botanical gardens and wandered through the grounds that weren't quite in bloom yet. Still pretty though. Headed up above town to see some huge, expensive houses to admire then back home to get out of the heat. Was quite hot this weekend. Grandma and her friend, Dodie, took off this morning and we (mostly Hazen) have been working around the house today. Lawn needed yet another mowing. Now we have a few days rest before Aubree's parents arrive Thursday evening.

Pretty sure that thing is attached to her hand and eye

A Few Updates

Well it was definitely not fun to do but glad it's done. We decided to paint the kitchen cabinets white. What a hassle. I do not recommend anyone do this them selves. Spend the extra money and have new ones put in. I won't get in to all the headaches we ran into, just know there were many. Here are a few before and afters of the kitchen.

Hazen was going to build a bar but decided it wouldn't be that much cheaper to do it himself and it would have been a lot more work. We found this bar and stools for not too much money and decided it would work.

This was the back patio before we took down the privacy screen.
New patio furniture as house warming gift from Hazen's parents. (Thanks)
Not such a good pic with the sun setting but the patio and back yard feel much more open without the screen.

What now?

Lucy's new hobby

Hard to tell from this angle but it does come up to my knee.
